In a groundbreaking achievement, Green Team LI has become the first contractor in the United States to install energy efficiency upgrades in a home under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The official announcement happened at a press conference on May 30th, 2024, followed by a visit to the newly updated home in Queens, NY. The events were attended by NYS Governor Kathy Hochul, US Senator Chuck Schumer, US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, Senior Advisor to President Biden John Podesta, US Representative Tom Suozzi, CEO of NYSERDA Doreen Harris, and many other dignitaries.
Green Team LI’s Al Lopez toured the Queens home with Rep. Suozzi and NYSERDA’s Harris to showcase the upgrades that have saved the Tejada family nearly $200 a month in utility costs.
The project involved a comprehensive energy audit followed by the installation of state-of-the-art energy-saving technologies. The upgrades included high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, advanced insulation, a new high-efficiency hybrid hot water heater, and smart home energy management systems. These improvements have already significantly reduced the home’s energy consumption and lowered the utility bills for the Tejada family.
